Pink Peppercorn Shawl Kits

  • Product Info

These kits are for the Pink Peppercorn Shawl by Julia Parlette-Cariño. To design this shawl, Julia used Hot Pants as her main color, and Barley as her contrast color. I've included this kit as well as 3 additional options to choose from!

    Project information from Ravelry:

PINK PEPPERCORN is a cozy asymmetrical triangular shawl worked in worsted-weight. It is knitted from side to side with an easy lace motif and mini baubles scattered across its generous width, culminating in a cushy brioche rib. With a vibrantly-hued spice like the pink peppercorn it takes inspiration from, this shawl is bedecked with tassels and pompoms (optional of course!).

Pink peppercorn as an ingredient originated in Peru and has a mildly spicy bite with sweet, fruity undertones. Everyone in my family loves to eat. At home in my kitchen, I rarely go by recipes. I love experimenting with unusual combinations and I’m delighted when the results go over well. I’ve tried to reflect these unusual combinations in the design of this knit, creating an explosion of textures and techniques.

    SKILL LEVEL Intermediate

SUGGESTED YARN: Any worsted weight yarn that will take blocking. Samples pictured use Less Traveled Yarn, worsted weight (100% Superwash Merino). Main Color (MC): Hot Pants (pink), from the Outspoken Collection, and Contrast Color (CC): Barley (gray), from the Creosote Collection.

For the shawl (without tassels and pompoms)
Main Color: approx 630-767 yards / 576-701 meters
Contrast Color: approx. 88-108 yards / 80-99 meters

Kits include 4 skeins of the MC, and 1 skein of the CC

DIMENSIONS: Shawl measures 61 in. / 155 cm. when measured along the longest edge. Dimensions given are after wet blocking. Always swatch and block to determine your gauge!

SUGGESTED GAUGE: 27 stitches over 32 rows worked in lace pattern with US 5 / 3.75 mm needles = 6” wide x 4” deep (15cm x 10cm), after wet blocking.

    TOOLS

    • US 5 / 3.75 mm., minimum of 40” length circular needles to accommodate for large number of stitches.
    • For brioche ribbing at end: US 4 / 3.5 mm., minimum of 40” length circular needles to accommodate for large number of stitches.
    • 2 stitch markers
    • A tapestry needle for weaving in ends
    • Blocking mat, pins or wires
    • Highly recommended: a stitch counter for keeping track of repeats
